Enforcing the Law is Risky!

Law Enforcement Statistics compared to national averages:

  • Life expectancy lower (despite mental and physical health entry screening tests)
  • Divorce rate higher
  • Suicide rate higher
  • Drug and alcohol abuses rates higher

The Job has Built-in Stressors

Special Stressors make the statistics no surprise:

  • Citizens at their baddest, maddest, saddest
  • The system
  • Politics
  • "Surprises"
  • Lazy people
  • The media
  • High maintenance yuppies
  • Equipment that doesn't work
  • Court system can fail

This Risk can be Reduced

Excellent protocols exist for dealing with the public; needed is training in dealing with the other Special Stressors, to be in control of oneself and any situation 24/7. The seasoned law enforcement professionals at Williams LifeSkills can provide such training.

Law Enforcement Skills Training Network

The Law Enforcement Skills Training Network was established to bring together law enforcement professionals with training experience and senior scientists and researchers in the academic community to jointly develop and promote a series of programs designed to provide behavioral skills training for the Law Enforcement community.

The programs offered cover a wide range of topics, all using Emotional Intelligence coping skills developed by Dr. Redford B. Williams and other health care professionals. These behavioral skills form the foundation for many of the programs and are based on 30 years of research, some of it by Dr. Williams, who is the Director, Behavioral Medicine Research Center at Duke University, Durham, N.C.

The Anger Management Series is comprised of four separate offerings, each targeted and customized to the specific audiences. The coping skills presented have gone through extensive clinical trials, with excellent outcomes. Additional information and trial data is available upon request.

A Video and E-learning course has also been created; both are entitled Managing Stress & Anger. They are available to support or reinforce the Anger Management Series.

The following programs are available:

The Williams LifeSkills workshop has been designated as one of the 15 model programs recognized by the Consortium for Research on Emotional Intelligence in Organizations.

Please contact us if you would like a copy of the Video to review or to see a demonstration of the E-learning course.
